 JRF is the acronym of Junior Research fellowship.  JRF examination is 1st phase in the Admission procedure to Ph.d. all qualified candidates in UGC NET examination (National Eligibility test) will be eligible  for the award of UGC JRF and eligibility for lectureship in Indian university and colleges. After qualify this examination you will be eligible to receive fellowship of UGC under various schemes.
The award of jrf will depends on the performance of the UGC Net. The qualified candidate will also be eligible for lectureship. On the other hand the aspirant qualifying completely for lectureship will not be considering for award of JRF. You have to mention during application that are you are applying for both JRF and eligibility for lectureship or only for eligibility for lectureship.

Validity period of the offer is two years w.e.f. the date of issue of JRF Award Letter. All candidates who will qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for lectureship.  For the award of ugc Junior Research Fellowship/ ugc Lectureship in science subjects (Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean & Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; Physical Sciences) is conducted jointly with CSIR UGC JRF.

Age Limit: Maximum age for UGC JRF – 28 year, age relaxation will be applicable for reserved category.

How to apply: you can fill an online application form provided by UGC. University grant commission conducts UGC NET JRF exam twice in a year. UGC NET JRF June examination is already conducted and results has been declared. UGC NET JRF exam December online application form and notification usually comes in the month October.  Ugc conducts JRF DEC exam at the last week of December. You can submit application form fee through Bank Challan Performa provided by UGC website.

Usually UGC JRF notification for dec examination 1st week of October, but this year yet their (30 oct ) there are no news regarding UGC notification and advertisement for JRF and NET examination December session.
